A one-time highly flourishing trade center along the historic Silk Route, Leh has forever been romancing with awe and mystery. With colorful prayer flags fluttering on rooftops, lofty mountains walling the city from foreign winds, sprawling valleys cradling opulent meadows of green, Leh is your earthly ground for a cosmic experience. It is here that you will break your shackles from the outside world and become a true wanderlust.
After you reach Manali
Orientation followed by HEAVY breakfast : You are going to get to know the MOTORHOME ADVENTURES TEAM/TROOP that will explore the adventure with you for next 12 days. You are free to go for sightseeing in the nearby areas of Manali which will be followed by EARLY dinner. Sleep well tonight and prepare for a dreamland journey from next day.
After early break fast we’ll drive through deep green coat of covered pine tree forest, sparkling rivulets and waterfalls sprouting out of the adjacent hills. The up-winding road with beautiful scenery as the drive brings us to Rohtang-Pass (3978 m), explore the region and travel across to reach Keylong at (3350 m) in Lahaul district and little further to Jispa for overnight camp on Bhaga river bed. Optional Bon-Fire.
After breakfast Ahead of Jispa, we’ll come across glacial waters and the fourth highest motorable pass in the world Baralacha La (4830 m), while the Alpine mountains gradually transforms to the lunar landscape, characteristic of Ladakh and we’ll reach the windswept Sarchu landscape at 4253 m. Today you’ll have great social time to meet people at campsites. Optional Bon-Fire
After a pleasant stay at Sarchu we make an early start for the last leg of two highest mountain passes Nakee La (4905m) & Lachlung La at (5060 m), nearby is an incredible 20 km of switchback roads, including a spine-tingling 21 gata ‘loops’ or hairpin bends, on one side of the mountain. Further road take us down to the tea-house settlements at Pang (4660m), which is also the second highest BRO barrack on Manali-Leh road. 5 km ahead of Pang, ascend one dramatic series of gorges before reaching out along flattens valley of Moori Plane, at an elevation of (4000m) stretched out for almost 36 kms. Challenge of today 2nd highest motorable pass Taglang la with an elevation of 5328 mtrs will give us passage to the Indus valley which will give us first sight of greenery, small village & access to our night halt place Uptsi.
Day 5 & 6
After having an early breakfast, we will take you to east of Leh via Chang-la Mountain Pass (5,475 m) to the salty Pangong Tso (Pangong : hollow) the highest lake in Ladakh at about (4300m), and is flanked by massive peaks over 6500m high. The lake is 150 km long but only 4 km widest. It extends almost in a straight line way into Tibet; in fact, only a quarter of the lake is in India. The view all around is mesmerising vistas with the changing colours of the waters of the lovely lake.
After breakfast, you are free to explore the region or one can just laze around motorhome, enjoy spectacular views of the lake changing its colours or take short hikes up the hills behind you for even better vantage points to watch the sunset as village folk return from the pastures with their herds of sheep. The motorhome can go as far as Spangmik village. Gala Dinner. Optional Bon-Fire. ( group activities )
After Early morning breakfast we will leave for Leh, retrace the journey over the “Paagal Naula” & Chang La, Today for first time you’ll get a flavour of the history and culture of Ladakh. If time permits Explore the best known monuments around Leh and its palaces, museums & monasteries. Overnight we camp near Leh in Changspa / Saboo camp ground. Optional Bon-Fire
Day 8 & 9
Today you will achieve one of your personal milestones to cross over the world highest motorable pass, Khardung La, (5602 m). Enjoy a cup of soup at Khardung La top and ( do not forget to take pictures along the sign board of highest motorable road ).
After a quick photo session at Khardung la we’ll proceed to Khalsar village from where Nubra Valley, further road will take us down to Diskit village and finally to Hunder a pretty village, set among lots of trees and mingling streams, sand dunes, snow capped mountains and double humped Bactrian Camels. Overnight camp next to mingling streams, bon-fire.
Today you are free to explore Hunder village or one can just laze around motorhome, enjoy spectacular views or take short hikes up the sand dunes or take a short camel safari.
* Visit Diskit old and new monastery including the tallest Buddha statue in the noon.
* In the evening you can go for double humped camel ride at Hunder which is just 7 KMs ahead.
After a pleasant stay at Hunder we’ll start early in morning to drive back to Leh, passing Khardung La once again. Drive further west of Leh near Nimoo is the junction of the confluence of Zanskar and Indus rivers. Ahead of Nimoo on your left lies the Alchi monastery (3300 m). Overnight at Alchi. (We recommend stopping over at Alchi so that one can experience west Ladakh at leisure .
On the 11th day we prepare for your farewell, we will indulge in group activities and later we will lead you to your hotel.
On the 12th day you can fly back to your respective locations or continue as per your plans.
